|
ED-Elas2D is a learning software designed for the analysis
of 2D structures with the help of the Finite Element Method (FEM). The
Finite Element Method is without doubt the most powerful and widely used
method for solving a multitude of problems in research and industry |
| |
| Users of ED-Elas2D will learn how to: |
 |
• calculate stiffness matrixes of elements
• set up the global stiffness matrix
• assemble load vectors of elements
• set up the global load vector
• introduce boundary conditions
• handle external loads
• calculate displacement vectors
• calculate strain and stress fields
|
The learning software ED-Elas2D aims to introduce the practical use of FEM
with a detailed explanation of each single step of the complete solution. ED-Elas2D
consists of three separate programs:
The Pre-processor:
The pre-processor is the editor of ED-Elas2D and is used for input of the
geometry, the boundary conditions and loads, as well as material data for
the FEM calculations.
The Solver:
The solver of ED-Elas2D is used for solving the system of linear equations
and contains modules with examples, tutorials and theory. The examples module
leads the user step by step through the entire solution process, whereas the
user can actively participates in finding the solution using the tutorial module.
At all times the theory module can be opened for reference.
The Post-processor:
After solving a problem, the post-processor is used for the graphical display
of results such as displacements, stresses and strains.
